How do you know if the work you’d like to undertake is a project? How do you know if you need a project manager?
Definition of a Project
In UITS we define a project as: A temporary organization formed to create a strategic product or service. A project concludes when the product or service has been delivered and project resources have been released.
A Project Manager will be assigned to projects that have:
- A requirement to create a unique or innovative product / service
- Defined start and end dates
- Cross-functional collaboration from more than 5 resources
- A Definition of Done agreed by the sponsor at start-up
- A minimum 4-month estimated duration
- Prioritization based on organizational impact / urgency, complexity, and resource availability
- Professional direction from a skilled project manager
