The UMass President’s Office Communications Department works to tell the university’s story of education, research, service and impact in a compelling and purposeful way to local, national and global audiences. The department helps craft and amplify positive narratives about the university and its students, faculty, staff and alumni.
To that end, the communications department works with internal and external parties to ensure that the university's story and impact are told earnestly and with proper context. The department also produces multimedia content, oversees marketing campaigns and generates positive media coverage aimed at bringing the UMass story to life. In addition, the department oversees the university system’s digital and social media platforms.
The communications department provides critical support to internal departments to ensure consistency of voice, tone and visual styling and to protect the integrity of the UMass brand. The department also works closely with campus communications and marketing offices to maintain integrated messaging and to further university-wide strategic communications goals.
