Project BEST (Budgeting Excellence by System Transformation) is the modernization of UMass’s systems for budget planning and in-year maintenance. UMass selected Oracle EPM. The new tool will be available to campuses for the FY27 budget planning season. Some campuses will be piloting limited components of Oracle EPM during the FY26 planning season.

Monthly Project Updates (2025)

Over the past few months, we have ensured that all requirements and documentation are in place to begin development. The Amherst application is now under development, while for the other campuses, we are finalizing the remaining requirements and documentation. Click here to learn more.

Monthly Project Updates (2024)

The Oracle EPM implementation project kicked off on October 21st. During October, the project team will discuss requirements and system design with campus teams. You can read more about Project BEST here.

October was a busy month for the project. Numerous Requirements & Design sessions were held across campus with budget offices to discuss specific campus needs and solution preferences. Click here for more details and to see what’s on the horizon.

We've made excellent progress in the requirements design sessions across campus. Click here to review our accomplishments and see the next steps for Project BEST.
