The HR Department partnered with other President’s Office departments in hosting a Senior and Middle Manager Two Day Onsite Development Program.  The program took place on Wednesday January 24th and Wednesday January 31st in Westborough.

This program accomplished three goals:

First, the program increased the overall effectiveness and cohesiveness of the UMass President’s Office by promoting a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, the full scope of work that is being performed by our colleagues. This includes work that intersects with our own portfolio, as well as work of which we may have limited familiarity but nevertheless is an important part of the mission of the President’s Office.

Second, the program gave an opportunity to show off our local talent. During the two-day program we heard from attorneys, finance and human resources professionals and IT leaders who are employed within the UMass President’s Office and who can hold their own among the presenters at any external professional conference. The second day concluded with a visit from Steve Karam, the Chair of the UMass Board of Trustees. The Chairman’s participation in this event, could correctly be understood as an expression of his recognition that the management team within the President’s Office plays a vital role in the overall success of the University system.

Third, the program gave an opportunity to directly engage with colleagues and step out of the zoom box.
