Did You Know that YOU are a Risk Manager?

Enterprise Risk Management, or ERM, is a framework which UMass, like many other organizations, is actively using to manage risk across the system. The UMass Systemwide ERM Program facilitates a process to manage risk in a systematic and integrated way, rather than addressing it in silos. This means that the ERM Program brings people together from across the UMass system, departments and disciplines to identify, assess and mitigate risk. Benefits of this include improved decision-making, enhanced communication and collaboration, and increased transparency and accountability.

While ERM stands for Enterprise Risk Management, we believe the ‘E’ stands for ‘Everyone’.

Risk management is at the core of so many aspects of the University’s operations, from strategic planning to day-to-day activities.  Therefore, each member of our institution is a risk manager in practice, as nearly everything you do helps UMass manage or mitigate risk.
