Session Description

In this session, Shawn Skelly will cover the AI Hub's mission, team structure, and activities, including working groups, the AI Hub website launch, and the AI Use Case Intake Request process. Kristina England will update on the Digital Accessibility Compliance Project, highlighting efforts in digital accessibility training, content redesign, product testing, and accessible marketing videos. Iris Lyons will summarize the March Phishing Campaign with statistics, phishing identification tips, and future training plans.

Speaker Bios

Shawn Skelly

Shawn Skelly is the Associate CIO for Enterprise Applications and Digital Transformation in the UMass President’s Office. He joined UMass in February of 2020. His prior positions include:

  • Manager of Retail Application at Staples where he managed a team of developers and quality assurance analysts.
  • Several positions in Point-of-Sale development at Staples

Shawn studied Pre-Med at American International College and holds several certifications such as SQL Administration and Development, Agile and Scaled Agile Development and Payment Card Industry Professional.

Kristina England

Kristina England serves as the Digital Experience and Accessibility Specialist for the UMass President’s Office. She reports into the Digital Experience team within University Information Technology Services (UITS). Kristina has worked for the University since April 2005. Before joining UMass as a full-time employee, Kristina was an intern at UMass from 1999 to 2005 while attending undergraduate and graduate school. 

Kristina has a bachelor’s degree in English from Assumption College and a master’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Boston. 

She is currently a member of the Accessibility Skills Hiring Toolkit Working Group for Teach Access, a non-profit that provides free programs and resources to help students and educators learn the fundamentals of disability and accessibility.

Iris Lyons

Iris Lyons is the Information Security and Disaster Recovery Lead at the UMass President’s Office. She started at UMPO in 2013 but after a brief hiatus returned in 2023 to the best office in the organization. Her prior positions include:

  • Service Delivery Manager at Modo Labs
  • Senior Project Manager at Hanover Insurance Company
  • Senior Project Manager at UMPO

Iris holds a bachelor’s degree from MCLA and is a member of ISACA.
