March 12th marked a significant milestone for UMPO as the UPST Interns took center stage at the UMass Club at One Beacon Street in Boston to deliver a stellar presentation to the EMT (Executive Management Team). Divided into two groups, each group completed a deep dive into the operations of two significant companies, Flywire and Nelnet.
Throughout months of research, one group focused on the inner workings of Flywire, while the other delved into the world of Nelnet. Flywire, currently servicing Dartmouth, Lowell, and Boston, and Nelnet, exclusively serving Amherst, play vital roles in the student tuition payment process.
The presentations not only showcased the companies but also highlighted the interns' diverse skill set. From practical data modeling to campus outreach, brand compliance, and team collaboration, they demonstrated their skills from both the internship program and the classroom.
Post-presentation, the UPST leadership staff provided them with a detailed training session, offering the interns a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how UPST supports the UMass system.
This event not only highlighted the interns' academic and professional growth but also emphasized the partnership between UMass and its vendors. It served as a testament to the University's commitment to nurturing talent within its students and fostering meaningful connections within its community.
