On October 3, UMass President Marty Meehan, Secretary of Education and UMass Trustee, Dr. Patrick Tutwiler, UMass Deputy Vice President of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Equity, Nef Walker, and UMass Chief Deputy General Counsel, Denise Barton, spoke to the UMass community concerning UMass’ continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the wake of the recent decisions from the United States Supreme Court in the Students for Fair Admission cases.

Nef Walker and Denise Barton are active members of the Advisory Council for the Advancement of Representation in Education, formed by the Healey-Driscoll administration, to work in cross-Commonwealth collaboration on promoting access to higher education, particularly for students of color, LGBTQ students, low-income students, and other students historically underrepresented in enrollment and completion of programs at the postsecondary level.
