The Office of General Counsel and Chancellor Marcelo Suarez-Orozco represented UMass at the Boston Bar Association’s annual Higher Education Legal Conference on March 2, 2023.

Chancellor Suarez-Orozco presented on the plenary panel (Higher Education Trends and Challenges: A View from Leadership). Chief Deputy General Counsel Denise Barton, a member of the BBA’s Conference Advisory Committee, presented with Assistant Counsel Alyssa Cherubino on a panel entitled “Mental Health: Student Leave and other Policies Under Revision.” Associate Counsel Ethan Mutschler presented on a panel entitled “Graduate & Undergraduate Students Are Organizing: Are You Prepared?” and Associate Counsel Andrew Karberg presented on a panel entitled “International Research, Cross-Border Collaborations & Foreign Relations.” General Counsel Gerry Leone, along with several other members of his OGC team, participated in the conference along with 200 attorneys who practice in and for colleges and universities.
