Speaker Bios

Kyle David

Kyle has served as the Chief Audit Officer for the University since June 2011. He leads the Internal Audit department which provides assurance, consulting and investigative services throughout the University. He came to the University from The Hanover Insurance Group a leading property and casualty insurer where he had various roles within Internal Audit for more than a decade and was most recently Assistant Vice President of Internal Audit.

Kyle holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Worcester State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Anna Maria College.  He is a licensed CPA, a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, and holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance.

Derek Scano

Derek has worked for the University Internal Audit department since September 2007 and has served as the Director since July 2024. With the Chief Audit Officer, he leads the Internal Audit department which provides assurance, consulting and investigative services throughout the University.  He came to the University from the Massachusetts State Auditor’s Office where he had various roles for more than six years and was most recently the IT Audit Manager.

Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Assumption University. He is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner and holds the Certification in Cybersecurity.
