Mitigation Assessment Tool for Reducing Risk Exposure (MATRX)
The University of Massachusetts Systemwide Enterprise Risk Management Program has developed a tool known as MATRX (Mitigation Assessment Tool for Reducing Risk Exposure) to measure the effectiveness of mitigation strategies in reducing the University's assessed risk exposure.
The goals of the mitigation assessment include:
- Documenting risk mitigation strategies for transparency
- Correlating the assessment of risk mitigation strategies to a risk's assessed inherent risk exposure
- Demonstrating the impact of mitigation strategies on risk exposure
