Why is Supplier Diversity important to UMass?
Supplier Diversity compliments the values that the university places on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The university's DEIA Office works to "build a stronger and more inclusive university community," which extends to the suppliers that UMass does business with. More specifically, the university's Supplier Diversity strategy focuses on:
- Building a mature program that positions UMass as a leading higher education partner and peer for supplier diversity
- Delivering real economic impact - increased innovation, creativity, opportunity, and access - by doing more business with historically underrepresented communities
- Demonstrating our DEIA values across and with our supplier base, to increase the sense of inclusion and belonging for internal and external constituents alike
