International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is observed annually around the world on March 8. On this day, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from around the world. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The UMass President's Office Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Team honors the various contributions of women at the President's Office and beyond. This year, we will offer several events. All employees are welcome to attend.

2023 Theme: #EmbraceEquity

This year's official IWD campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity. We can all challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias, and seek out inclusion. Collective activism is what drives change. From grassroots action to wide-scale momentum, we can all embrace equity.

To truly embrace equity, means to deeply believe, value, and seek out difference as a necessary and positive element of life. To embrace equity means to understand the journey required to achieve women's equality.
