Latifa Woodhouse is the Founder and President of Shared Humanity USA with a mission of serving people who were forcibly displaced by war, persecution, oppression, and economic deprivation. For 30 years Latifa taught at the New York City and Long Island high schools. She is an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Shelter Rock in Manhasset, NY.

Latifa published Latifa Unveiled in 2020, an engaging memoir that reveals the power of human spirit, one that bridges the gap between East and West, education and ignorance, and the past and future. Readers are taken behind the heavy doors of secrecy and see what life was like for a Pashtun girl growing up in Kandahar, the birthplace of the Taliban, who fought for her freedom. In the middle between two cultures and two radically different expectations of womanhood stands Latifa, a feminist before she even knew what that description meant. Her story is one that must be read.

Latifa lives in Great Neck, NY with her husband, Colin. Latifa says that her challenges have made her empathize with all who struggle to be free.
