Artemis Joukowsky III is an American director, author, producer and disabilities activist. He is also a is a venture capitalist, asset advisor, entrepreneur, and non-profit activist.

Mr. Joukowsky is the grandson of Waitstill Sharp and Martha Sharp, who helped hundreds of endangered Jews and refugees escape from Nazi camps. Artemis spent decades researching his grandparents' story and connecting that story to the current refugee crisis. To honor his grandparents, he co-directed Defying the Nazis: The Sharps' War in 2016 along with director Ken Burns. The PBS broadcast of the documentary attracted over 1.1 billion impressions on social media and an audience of over 3.5 million viewers. He also published a book by the same name that offers a rare glimpse at high-stakes international relief efforts during WWII and tells the remarkable true story of a couple whose faith and commitment to social justice inspired them to risk their lives to save countless others.

As a teenager, Artemis was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a debilitating disease that greatly weakens his arms and legs. He has been active in various disability and community services for a number of years. In 2001, Artemis co-founded No-Limits Media, a non-profit organization focused on changing the idea of what it means to be “disabled” to how we all are "differently abled.” He was a member of the United States Paralympic Team from 2002 to 2004, competing in the US and abroad. He won National Championships in table tennis in 2002 for class 6 and won the Silver medal in the Mexico City Games in 2003.

Artemis co-authored Raising The Bar: New Horizons In Disability Sports with Larry Rothstein and Christopher Reeves, a book that aims to educate, pay homage, and raise awareness of the heroes and role models in the international community of disability sports. Most recently, he co-directed The Genetics of Hope in 2020, a documentary that follows the families, patients, and scientists who rallied together to create the first approved treatment for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Artemis serves as a senior advisor for a financial data analytics company in the climate space called Entelligent, which is based in Boulder Colorado. Entelligent advises banks and other institutional investors on how to assess and mitigate the risk that climate change poses to their portfolio.

Artemis currently resides in Sherborn, Massachusetts and is a member of the same congregation his grandfather ministered at, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills.
