Dr. Kalmakis is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts nursing and public health colleges. She is a certified family nurse practitioner with special interest in trauma-informed care. Her research focus is on health consequences of childhood adversity/trauma, chronic neurobiological stress, and resilience. Dr. Kalmakis has received federal and foundation funding to support her research and has disseminated her findings widely through numerous peer-reviewed publications and at national and international conferences.
Dr. Kalmakis has been a member of the College of Nursing Faculty since 2008.
