Dr. Noreen C. Okwara, Internal Medicine Resident at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. She is a graduate of both UMass Boston (B.S. in Biology in 2012) and the Medical School (M.D. in 2017). Her pursuit of a career in medicine was inspired by the tragic loss of a loved one due to limited access to healthcare while living in Kenya. Her family immigrated to Lowell when she was 17, where she earned her GED and attended Middlesex Community College before transferring to UMass Boston. After graduating from UMass Boston, she conducted research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, before attending UMass Medical School. She intends to eventually return to her hometown of Lowell to practice as a physician.
