Watching Coursera Videos Offline

If you want to watch videos without an internet connection, you can download the video files. You can also download the video's subtitles as a transcript file you can read.

Download videos on a computer

To download videos on a computer:

  1. Open the video you want to download.
  2. Under the video, find the "Downloads" section.
  3. Click Lecture video.
  4. Once the video is downloaded to your computer, you can open it using the video player program on your computer.

If you're taking a course on Coursera's old platform, you'll see a download icon next to each video on the video index page for your course.

Show subtitles in a downloaded video

To show subtitles for a downloaded video:

  1. Open the video you want to download subtitles for.
  2. Under the video, find the "Downloads" section.

Download videos on a mobile device

If you're using the Coursera App for Android or iOS, you can download videos in batches. Each week of the course has one batch of videos.

To download a week's worth of videos:

  1. In the Coursera App, open the course you want to download videos for.
  2. From the course outline, open the week with the videos you want to download.
  3. In the iOS app: tap the download icon [IMAGE] at the top of the screen and choose Download Videos.
  4. In the Android app: tap Save for Offline.

Download video subtitles as a transcript

You can download the subtitles for a video as a transcript file that you can read.

You might miss information from the video if you only read the transcripts, so we suggest that you still watch the videos.

To download a transcript:

  1. Open the video you want to download subtitles for.
  2. Under the video, find the "Downloads" section.
  3. Click Transcript.
